Municipality of Ponte de Lima
The Municipality of Ponte de Lima asked API to develop a session on artificial intelligence in education, focused on how students and teachers can use AI responsibly and effectively to strengthen learning, creativity and critical thinking.
Artificial intelligence is changing how students research, write, practise and develop ideas, as well as how teachers prepare lessons, personalise support and evaluate learning. Education communities need practical guidance to benefit from these tools without losing authorship, judgement or academic integrity.
The session for Ponte de Lima was designed to explore the opportunities and responsibilities of generative AI in education: asking better questions, checking information, protecting privacy, referencing work appropriately and keeping human reasoning at the centre of learning.
For students, artificial intelligence can become a lever for learning by supporting study planning, explanations, brainstorming and feedback when it is used with curiosity, verification and personal effort.
For teachers, AI can support lesson planning, differentiated resources and timely feedback, creating more time for guidance and classroom interaction. The objective is not to replace educators or student work, but to use AI to improve student learning in a responsible, transparent and inclusive way.
